 Name: The Lost Hero
Author: Rick Riordan
Genre: Mythology
Rating:

Jason has a problem. He doesn’t remember anything before waking up in a bus full of kids on a field trip. Apparently he has a girlfriend named Piper and a best friend named Leo. They’re all students at a boarding school for “bad kids.” What did Jason do to end up here? And where is here, exactly?

Piper has a secret. Her father has been missing for three days, ever since she had that terrifying nightmare. Piper doesn’t understand her dream, or why her boyfriend suddenly doesn’t recognize her. When a freak storm hits, unleashing strange creatures and whisking her, Jason, and Leo away to someplace called Camp Half-Blood, she has a feeling she’s going to find out.

Leo has a way with tools. When he sees his cabin at Camp Half-Blood, filled with power tools and machine parts, he feels right at home. But there’s weird stuff, too—like the curse everyone keeps talking about. Weirdest of all, his bunkmates insist that each of them—including Leo—is related to a god. (goodreads)

REVIEW:

The lost hero is like a continuation of the Percy Jackson series. But it is a bit different. I really enjoyed the whole one-book-is-greek-another-one-is-roman thing. I liked seeing both camps (half-blood and Jupiter) and their differences. I personally prefer camp half blood, i thought the Romans were much too strict and serious. Although the Ares in roman form is much more fun. I really enjoyed this new idea Rick Riordan had. I enjoyed Jason meeting Annabeth and everyone at camp half blood and fighting alongside the Greeks. Specially finding out that he was Thalia's brother. That amazed me, that he was born out of Jupiter while Thalia of Zeus. That is new! A great start on a new series!

This is the first book of the new series, and I am sorry to say I am not very fond of Jason. Maybe it is because we are so used to Percy and Camp Half blood. And now we get this new mysterious guy named Jason, son of Jupiter with this regal attitude and I just couldn't deal with it. Overall it is a great book, we learn of Piper and Leo and their own problems. I had some problems reading the middle of the book because it is so different reading about the Roman sides of the Gods. Honestly, I prefer the Greek side of everything! In Lost Hero, Jason, Piper and Leo must free Juno (Hera) from Mother Earth itself (Gaea) and destroy her most "successful children" the Giants. Each Giant was created to oppose the Olympian Gods. In here they must fight against Jupiter's Bane. All of this while starting the "Great Prophecy of the Seven" as the Romans know it. And on the other side, Camp Jupiter is looking for Jason while he learns to trust the Greeks. This is a great first book and it totally gives you insight of how the rest of the series will be.....promising!

The Good: Filled with adventure and edge of your seat action!

The Bad: No percy yet....:(
