Name: The Phantom of the Opera
Author: Gaston Leroux
Genre: Mystery, Romance, Classics

Rating:

A classic, haunting tale of reality and illusion, The Phantom of the Opera has been fascinating readers and viewers for nearly a century. (goodreads)

REVIEW:

This novel is probably my favorite book yet, there are no words to describe this novel, at least not fully. The Phantom of the Opera is the tale of a mysterious, dark, musical genius only known as the Phantom of the Opera or the Opera Ghost, and the young soprano singer Christine Daae. Orphaned Christine goes to live at the Opera house in Paris where she meets this mysterious man that calls himself the Angel of Music, he makes her think he is her father's ghost and gives her singing lessons. But the fatherly and protective love he has for her is soon turned into an obsession. But young Vicomte Raoul de Chagny--a childhood friend makes her doubt those feelings the Phantom gives her-- soon starts falling in love with her. This story is about illusion, about choosing the heart over the mind. And of choosing to listen to the Music of the NIght or giving into the light. Who will she choose? The man that scares her but at the same time seduces her, or the man she has always known and offers her everything she needs?

The Good: Filled with magic, illusion, music, darkness and an aura of mystery, this book may make you consider your personal opinions. Some of you might feel attracted to the "power of the music of the night", while some of others may just be attracted to the power of the scorpion. (when you read the book you'll understand the scorpion reference)

The Bad: You may hate the Phantom if you are a Raoul lover. If you do, we are opposites. I am a PHAN.
