Name: The Dead of Night (Cahills Vs. Vespers Book #3)
Author:Peter Lerangis
Genre: YA, Series

The third book in the CAHILLS VS. VESPERS series, the follow up to the worldwide bestseller THE 39 CLUES.

The Vespers have crossed a line. Amy and Dan were devastated when the Vespers kidnapped seven Cahills around the world, holding them hostage until Amy and Dan delivered an impossible ransom. But at least the hostages were Cahills - members of the world's most powerful family, trained to face all odds.

Now the Vespers have gone too far. They've kidnapped Atticus, an innocent 11 year old boy and Dan's only friend. Now Dan and Amy are in the struggle of their lives. Because if they can't outwit the Vespers, the unthinkable will happen . . . Atticus will die.

In this third book, Amy and Dan must go to Samarkand, Uzbekistan to find a "stale orb". Which has proven to be quite a riddle for the siblings. Dan seems to be going more and more to the "dark side". The messages he receives from his "father" AJT keep sending him to the edge of the dark side, and he keeps collecting ingredients for the serum. Now after Atticus escaped, he and Jake have joined the Cahills in rescuing the hostages. But things are getting better in finding them, Nellie has given them a clue on their location. And they now know where they are. But Atticus' relationship with the Cahills keeps increasing their questions. Atticus is a guardian, and it is something the Vespers are looking for. But no one knows what. More importantly, why did his mom told him to stay close to Dan Cahill? The questions arise, and Dan gets closer and closer to the wrong side. What will happen?

The Good: The guardian thing is VERY interesting!

The Bad: If Amy and Dan's dad is alive, then I hate him. He is making Dan do the wrong thing! Also, the 4th book is not out yet....:S :(

Name: A King's Ransom (Cahills Vs. Vespers Book #2)
Author: Jude Watson
Genre: YA, Series

Amy and Dan are in a race for their lives . . . and the enemy may be even closer than they think.

When seven members of their family were kidnapped by a sinister organization known as the Vespers, thirteen-year-old Dan Cahill and his older sister, Amy, vowed they'd stop at nothing to bring the hostages home. But then the ransom comes in and the Vespers demand the impossible. Amy and Dan have just days to track down and steal an ancient map. The only catch? No one has seen the map for half a century.

Now Amy and Dan are on a desperate search that will lead them to the Nazis, spies, a mad king and some of history's dirtiest secrets. It's the race of their lives . . . and one misstep will mean certain death for the hostages.

In this second book of the series, Amy and Dan have to do the impossible again....find a lost map that no one has seen in half a century. Of course, by the orders of the mysterious Vesper One. Dan's friend, genius Atticus knows something is going on and he and his brother Jake get involved with Amy and Dan's mission and things get out of control. The Wyoming Twins, Vesper Agents, try to destroy Amy and Dan's plans and get them to not obtain Vesper One's requests. Also, in here, the Vespers killed Mcintyre, the Cahill's lawyer and family friend. Dan seems to keep looking for the ingredients to re-create the serum, and he insists of his Dad being alive. He keeps getting hints that he is still alive, and a Vesper. In the end, the Vespers get hold of Atticus and they want to kill him, the "Guardian".

Name: Medusa Plot (Cahills Vs. Vespers Book #1)
Author: Gordon Korman
Genre: YA, Series

Are you ready to save the world? The bestselling series returns with an adventure spanning 6 explosive books, 2 secret-filled card packs, and a website that places readers right in the action.
Thirteen-year-old Dan Cahill and his older sister, Amy, thought they belonged to the world's most powerful family. They thought the hunt for 39 Clues leading to the source of that power was over. They even thought they'd won. But Amy and Dan were wrong.
One by one, distress calls start coming in from around the globe. Cahills are being kidnapped by a shadowy group known only as the Vespers. Now Amy and Dan have only days to fulfill a bizarre ransom request or their captured friends will start dying. Amy and Dan don't know what the Vespers want or how to stop them. Only one thing is clear. The Vespers are playing to win, and if they get their hands on the Clues . . . the world will be their next hostage.

The Cahills have been working very hard at being a "normal" family. But how can you be normal when a kid has the formula for the serum to become the most powerful person in the universe and has a crazy family making them look for the most random-hard-to-get things? 2 years have passed and Amy and Dan have been living in their own house living an almost normal life. But they know that things won't stay normal for a long time. The Vespers, a group of powerful people are following the Cahills, and have been enemies since Gideon Cahill's time. Amy is now 16 years old, with a boyfriend and is able to kick anyone's butt, while Dan is a 13 year old kid who hasn't changed much. Except the clue hunt has scarred him, made him not just a kid but a kid who has seen death, which worries Amy. Their family is as united as it can possibly be, and all who helped defeating Isabel Kabra has become Madrigals. But soon Cahills start disappearing, and Amy and Dan must find out where they are and get them free. But a mysterious person, called Vesper One, has them. And they must do as they say, otherwise they will die. He asks for The Medusa, an art jewel that no one has seen in a long time. Amy and Dan must work with their cousins to find out these mysterious group Vespers and recover their loved ones.....Nellie, Fiske, Natalie Kabra, Phoenix Wizard, Alistair, Raegan Holt, and Ned Starling.

The Good: A new series, with early action. Plus, everyone is older.

The Bad: I hate the kidnappings....

#137 in my 150+ Reading Challenge
Name: Vesper's Rising (39 Clues Book #11)
Author: Rick Riordan, Peter Lerangis, Gordon Korman, Jude Watson
Genre: YA, Series

The Cahills aren't the only family searching for the Clues...
The Cahills thought they were the most powerful family the world had ever known. They thought they were the only ones who knew about Gideon Cahill and his Clues. The Cahills were wrong.
Powerful enemies - the Vespers - have been waiting in the shadows. Now it's their time to rise and the world will never be the same. In Vespers Rising, a brand new 39 Clues novel, bestselling authors Rick Riordan, Peter Lerangis, Gordon Korman and Jude Watson take on the hidden history of the Cahills and the Vespers, and the last, terrible legacy Grace Cahill leaves for Amy and Dan

This is the book where everything about the Cahill's past is revealed. First, the book starts off with the story of Gideon Cahill, the inventor of the serum to make the most powerful person in the world. The story explains why he created it, why he gave it to his 4 children----Luke, Katherine, Thomas, and Jane Cahill. He explained how it worked---it enhances abilities and traits, plus makes you smarter, stronger and better in every way. But it also enhances bad traits, like Luke's twisted mind. In here we are shown that Gideon Cahill has an enemy, Damien Vesper, who wants that serum to rule the world. We are also shown the second story, Madeleine Cahill's story. From her childhood to her mission of reuniting the Cahill Siblings and branches. By the way, that was my favorite story of them all. The third story is about Grace Cahill, when she was a little girl and finding about the clue hunt and her adventures. The Fourth story is about Amy, Dan and Fiske Cahill. This book is an intro to the next series, CAHILLS vs. VESPERS

The Good: You finally know the true story.

The Bad:The Madeleine story needed something else, it wasn't AS good as I thought it would be.
