Name: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince  (Harry Potter #6)
Author: J.K. Rowling
Genre: YA, Series
Rating:

The war against Voldemort is not going well; even the Muggle governments are noticing. Ron scans the obituary pages of the Daily Prophet, looking for familiar names. Dumbledore is absent from Hogwarts for long stretches of time, and the Order of the Phoenix has already suffered losses.

And yet . . .

As with all wars, life goes on. Sixth-year students learn to Apparate—and lose a few eyebrows in the process. Teenagers flirt and fight and fall in love. Classes are never straightforward, though Harry receives some extraordinary help from the mysterious Half-Blood Prince.

So it's the home front that takes center stage in the multilayered sixth installment of the story of Harry Potter. Here at Hogwarts, Harry will search for the full and complex story of the boy who became Lord Voldemort—and thereby find what may be his only vulnerability.

REVIEW:

Half Blood Prince is my second favorite book in the series. I believe it sets the mood for the next book, Dumbledore's death shows the trio how inevitable a confrontation with Voldemort is, and how important it is to work together and destroy him. During times, Harry made me mad when he doubted Snape. I am a HUGE Snape fan, so naturally, I was very mad at his sudden outbursts of anger towards Snape. Because of what happens in the end of the book, Harry gets even more irritating towards Snape and I found it hard to finish the book without yelling. :) Regardless of that, I found Harry's relationship with Dumbledore during those last days so heart breaking, because it is just so horrible what happens next. Dumbledore's calm state of mind towards knowing he will die, either soon or in a year, will never cease to amaze me. He accepts death so easily, he even pleads Snape to do it, and without any fear or remorse. I really enjoyed that.

Also, I cannot stress how much Snape should get rewarded for being such an amazing spy and actor! To have deceived, not only a TON of people but, the greatest dark wizard of all times is quite a feat! His emotions when confronting Dumbledore in the Astronomy tower gets me every time! He was mad and sad at the same time, mad at Dumbledore making him kill his only friend, and sad for not having another choice and no going back! I really enjoyed the memories Dumbledore showed Harry, I particularly loved the one in the orphanage and the one with the horcruxes. It was fascinating reading about Voldemort as a child/teenager. One of the things I enjoyed the most was when Harry showed his potions book to Snape and it has Ron's name there written in horrible handwriting that looked like "Roonil Weezbil", and Snape asked him why it was there, to which Harry replied "It is my nickname, how my friends call me" and Snape replying: "I know what a nickname is!!" LOL.

Deathly Hallows will also be a hard book to read. It is so emotional and sad, even though I have read the series like 10 times, it never fails to get to me!

After pulling some spectacular heists, Amy and Dan have become two of Interpol's most wanted criminals. So when Vesper One orders them to steal the world's largest diamond, they know they're facing life in prison...or worse. But with the Cahill hostages still in peril, Amy and Dan have no choice but to launch a mission that leads them to an ancient city full of dangerous secrets. With a Vesper mole sabotaging the Madrigals from inside, Amy and Dan have to fulfill their enemy's request before it's too late. Vesper One has developed a taste for killing Cahills, and Amy and Dan aren't going to wait to see who's next.
(goodreads)

REVIEW:

I have been waiting for this book for a long time. And I finally got it! IT took me like 3 hours to finish it and I loved it. In here, a LOT of things happen. Overall I think it was a great book. Some people, unfortunately die, some almost died. And some people are supposedly dead. Also, we start to see a little spark between Jake and Amy. Honestly, I keep doubting on that Interpol officer Milos, I wouldn't be surprised if he was a Vesper. There is just something about him. In here, Amy, Dan, Jake, and Atticus must "steal" a diamond from this super guarded museum. Not only must they do this in less time than before, but they also need to deal with the Wyoming Twins while the 7 hostages must figure out a way to survive with less food and water. I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait for the next one to come out on December! I also heard there was going to be a new series and that is so EXCITING!!

Name: Wake (Dream Catcher #1)
Author: Lisa McMann
Genre: YA, Series

Rating:
For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people's dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie's seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime.
She can't tell anybody about what she does they'd never believe her, or worse, they'd think she's a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn't want and can’t control.
Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else's twisted psyche. She is a participant.
(goodreads)

REVIEW:

I absolutely love this book. The story is about Janie and her unusual ability to catch other people's dreams. She feels and sees them and she rarely dreams. I read this book years ago and I realized there are 3 books now so I decided to reread the first one and continue on the series. Janie has a mother who does not quite care for her, and her dreams get worse and worse. She keeps being sucked into this nightmare about a monster and she later realizes its Cabel, the guy everyone thinks the worst of in school. But he changes on their senior year and suddenly becomes the guy all girls fall for. Not only that, but he starts hanging out with rich girls while Janie is left confused and hurt. She must find out how to stop getting into dreams, how to help the dreamer and how to get out of dreams. She must realize who Cabel really is and what he has to do with the rich kids and dreams.

Name: Anna Dressed in Blood (#1)
Author: Kendare Blake
Genre: YA, Series, Horror

Rating:

Just your average boy-meets-girl, girl-kills-people story...

Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.

So did his father before him, until his gruesome murder by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father’s mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.

When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn’t expect anything outside of the ordinary: move, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he’s never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, but now stained red and dripping blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.

And she, for whatever reason, spares his life.
(goodreads)

REVIEW:

Since I first saw this book at the library, I knew I had to read it. However, many people commented on how disappointing it was. Well, I can now say that to me it is not. I absolutely LOVED the book. I already have the second one and will start it soon. The story is nothing I have read before, and I enjoyed it a lot. It is about this kid (Cas) who kills ghosts and inherited this knife from his father and moves around the country trying to kill evil ghosts. But he arrives at this town, and he finds out about Anna, a ghost that has killed many, many people. Well, even though the book is about ghosts, it is also very romantic. Cas and Anna seem to have a special link, he enters her house but she does not feel the need to kill him. They fall in love. I thought that the book was going to end there, but no. We find out about this thing that killed Cas' dad a long time ago, and how it is in town. Well the ending was amazing, and from what i read about the second book, it sounds like things will get even more interesting!!
