Name: Masque of Red Death
Author: Bethany Griffin
Genre: Dystopian, YA
Rating:

Everything is in ruins.

A devastating plague has decimated the population, and those who are left live in fear of catching it as the city crumbles around them.

So what does Araby Worth have to live for?

Nights in the Debauchery Club, beautiful dresses, glittery makeup . . . and tantalizing ways to forget it all.

But in the depths of the club--in the depths of her own despair--Araby will find more than oblivion. She will find Will, the terribly handsome proprietor of the club, and Elliott, the wickedly smart aristocrat. Neither is what he seems. Both have secrets. Everyone does.

And Araby may find not just something to live for, but something to fight for--no matter what it costs her.

REVIEW:

I was hesitant on reading this book. I have never read Edgar Poe's "Masque of Red Death" so I was not sure how this book was going to be. I am glad I gave it a chance. I thought it was quite good.
Araby lives in a world where plague, disease, and death is abundant. Not to mention drugs and pain. Her family was torn apart by this plague and she now leaves as a puppet along with the other inhabitants of the town all under the Prince's orders. She must figure out how to battle the prince and finally fix the city, all while dealing with the disease and a new plague, the Red Death. She must fight until the end to defeat the evil spell of death that covers the city. The revolution is starting and there is no going back, people disappear only to be found later as corpses. I really liked the book, specially the love triangle! I cannot wait for the next book!
