The reason why I wanted to read this book was because there is a movie made about this book already with the same name. I LOVED that movie, so I wanted to give the book a try. And I am glad I did. The book starts off with introducing all the characters and getting comfortable with their personalities. Before the real action begins I already had an idea of who was going to go first and who was going to have to do what. We meet a group of college students that are visiting Mexico and decide to check out some Mayan ruins no one apparently knows about. They arrive at this small Mayan community and are "greeted" with a crazy group of people that really do not want them to leave. After a struggle and confusion they realize the brother of one of the guys is dead and that somehow the plants killed him. Afterwards, they struggle to live and figure out a way to get help. After no success, they must accept the fact that the strange plant that covers the entire ruins is actually alive, or can at least kill them after touching them once. They must survive for as long as possible and wait for the Greeks (friends they met at the beach) to save them. But will they get there in time, or will they find just ruins??
