Shokugeki No Soma - Vol: #6-10

 

Hello everyone! This is my review for the second 5 vol. part of the Food Wars! manga!

Welcome all to the Fall Elections! 

Recalling from the previous cliffhanger, Yukihira Soma is chosen as part of a group of contestants for the preliminaries of the Fall Elections, an event where the very top battle for the title of top first year student! 

Naturally, Soma is more than excited and ready for the challenge. However, he meets a new rival: Hayama and Ryo. Both are chefs with amazing talent for innovation, Hayama with a nose that rivals Erina's God Tongue and Ryo with a double personality that ends up being power hungry and scary. 

The preliminaries are chosen by the Elite Ten, the group of students responsible for pretty much everything. God Tongue Erina Nakiri does not want Soma to participate but everyone in the council agrees that he is an interesting character. The preliminaries has the theme of "curry" and Soma's father makes an appearance at the Polar Star dormitory with a very interesting revelation. 

Soma visits a mistress of spices and her student assistant in order to learn more about the topic for the preliminaries. Armed with new knowledge and new rival Hayama, Soma seeks to advance to the Finals where the first battle has "Bento" as topic. 

During this journey towards victory in the Fall Elections, Soma learns that there are many impressive students near him and he finds that the more rivals he challenges, the better Chef he becomes in every way. 

These five books were absolutely excellent. I am never left without the wish that this world existed with the Shokugeki battles and the ability to create such amazing dishes so easily. The author does an excellent job keeping the reader at the edge of their seat with the cliffhangers and new adventures. 

Furthermore, Soma's character growth is evident after each volume. The addition of the new characters is spot on and the exciting twists never cease to exist.
