The Heroes of Olympus: The Son of Neptune (#2)

No offense to Mr. Jason Grace but I love Percy Jackson! This book is probably in my top 3 books of the Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus series!

Similar to Jason Grace in Lost Hero, we learn that Percy Jackson is currently amnesiac and lost. In his case, he is at Camp Jupiter (Big surprise! It seems *someone* switched the main Greek and Roman heroes around). And this is crucial, it seems the Romans can tell Percy is Greek-like! Probably because the Greeks just thought Jason was a serious guy but the Romans can tell Percy is nowhere near Roman because he is so laid back!

Naturally, Percy gets approached by a form of Hera, the Goddess of Marriage and Queen of the Olympians. Just like she did with Jason, Hera offers a challenge to Percy in order to bring him to Camp Jupiter. It seems she thought an exchange of heroes was necessary in order to eventually bring the two camps together to beat the ultimate great prophecy. A prophecy which states that seven of the best half-bloods of BOTH camps will save the world against Gaea herself.

Percy, in the meantime, has to deal with being a probatio (a newbie) in the Roman legion and he has it even harder than Jason ever did because as a son of Poseidon (Neptune).....the legion does not like him as the Romans never quite respected Neptune unlike the Greeks (the Roman navy is a little boat).

Even worse, Percy has to travel to Alaska beyond the power of the Gods in order to fulfill the quest for the eagle staff which protects and provides power to the legion. However, this means that Percy does not have his normal hydro powers as it is beyond the Olympian Gods.

This is my favorite section of the book because Percy fears drowning. How can a Son of Poseidon drown?
