Camp Jupiter Classified: A Probatio's Journal

Hello!

We are on a roll today with mythology and Rick Riordan books! I'm okay with this :)

This is another companion book to Rick's mythology series. In this case, it goes along with "Heroes of Olympus" (reviews on the way!) and is all about the Roman Camp Jupiter.

Now, I must admit. While I loved this book it does not compare to the previous companion book I've reviewed (Camp Half-Blood Confidential). I do not know if it is because it is a different vibe with it being Roman instead of Greek or if it is because it is in the view point of a new character.

This companion is a Probatio's journal through the first weeks at Camp Jupiter. Claudia, a daughter of a minor goddess of....hinges? is introduced as a descendant through her Father's side of Mercury (or Hermes for you fellow Greeks).

She is aware of a lot though in comparison to the intro stories for Percy Jackson, Leo Valdez, Jason Grace and others. This is a nice refreshing change because it allows us to see the different viewpoint of someone who already knows about Lupa's training and Camp Jupiter.

However, there is a problem at camp. Not just that Claudia seems to get in trouble a lot (naturally for a demigod) but also that someone is messing with the trash and with a fawn (a satyr). Could this troublemaker have something to do with Claudia? Who knows?! However, Claudia has the need to fix whatever is going on because Reyna the praetor thinks it is her the one causing all the issues!

Overall, this companion book has a storyline with a lot of funny scenes. However, I feel like something felt missing. In the end, the reveal of who is responsible for the issues is not as fulfilling as usual.

Overall, I give this book:
