Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief (PJ#1)

 

Hello!

We are finally in one of my favorite YA series ever! Rick Riordan is one of my favorite authors; having written so many awesome series like "Heroes of Olympus", "The Apollo Trials", "The Kane Chronicles" and "The 39 clues". 

We start off with a 12 year old "troublemaker" who lives with his Mom and her disgusting, abusive boyfriend in a small apartment. Percy Jackson changes schools all the time due to behavioral issues but it turns out that he is a demigod, a son of Poseidon (God of the Sea). 

Percy's Mom knows all about this, of course, and sends him to Camp Half-Blood in order to protect him as he is the son of the big three (Zeus, Poseidon, Hades). However, she gets captured and supposedly killed by the Minotaur on the way to the camp and Percy vows to rescue her. He arrives at camp and gets the new kid talk about Gods and Goddesses. 

Percy gets claimed by Poseidon and everyone knows that he is dangerous as he is powerful. Percy and his friends Annabeth and Grover visit the oracle in order to receive a quest to save his Mom and Zeus' master bolt which was stolen by a half blood (Gods can't take each other's weapons). 

This book is phenomenal and I can't count how many times I've read it. I recommend it to anyone who likes Greek myths and tons of fantasy and action! Plus, there's romance later hehe
